The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a robbery syndicate and recovered a stolen Toyota Hilux vehicle in a renewed effort to combat violent crime and property-related offences across the state.

The Command disclosed that the suspects were apprehended during an intelligence-led operation carried out by police operatives investigating cases of criminal conspiracy and the receipt of suspected stolen property.

According to the police, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were allegedly involved in activities linked to the unlawful possession and concealment of the stolen vehicle.

The Toyota Hilux has since been recovered and taken into police custody as evidence while further investigations continue.

The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling criminal networks through proactive policing, intelligence gathering and collaboration with members of the public.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information that could assist security agencies in identifying and apprehending criminal elements operating within their communities.

The police said efforts are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the theft of the vehicle and to identify other individuals who may have participated in the alleged criminal operation.

Authorities also noted that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, in accordance with the law.

The Command reiterated that every suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.

Renewed Crackdown on Crime

The latest arrests form part of the Adamawa State Police Command’s ongoing operations aimed at reducing armed robbery, vehicle theft and other organised criminal activities across the state.

Security agencies have continued to encourage vehicle owners to promptly report stolen vehicles and suspicious activities, stressing that timely information significantly improves the chances of recovering stolen property and apprehending offenders.

Residents have also been advised to verify the ownership and documentation of vehicles before purchasing them, warning that acquiring suspected stolen property constitutes a criminal offence under Nigerian law.

The police assured members of the public that operations against criminal syndicates would continue as part of efforts to enhance public safety and protect lives and property throughout Adamawa State.
