Jurgen Klopp is still waiting for his first victory as Germany head coach after his side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Greece in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday.

Dimitris Kourbelis scored the decisive goal in Augsburg as Greece secured their first-ever victory over Germany in their 11th meeting.

The result leaves Germany without a win under Klopp after two matches in the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League.

Germany began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against the Netherlands before Sunday’s defeat to Greece.

Meanwhile, Portugal maintained their perfect start to the competition with a 2-1 victory over Norway in Oslo.

Joao Felix gave Portugal the lead in the 17th minute before Norway captain Erling Haaland equalised shortly after half-time.

Portugal, however, regained the advantage when Goncalo Ramos capitalised on a misplaced pass from Norway goalkeeper Orjan Nyland to restore the visitors’ lead.

Portugal held on to secure all three points despite late pressure from the hosts.

Norway had chances to take control of the game, but Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa twice denied Haaland before half-time.

Rafael Leao also came close to extending Portugal’s advantage but saw his effort strike the crossbar.

The result means Portugal have won both of their opening Nations League matches, while Norway, who defeated Denmark 3-2 in their opening fixture, suffered their first defeat of the campaign.

According to a late Sunday night release on the UEFA Nations League website, the other Matchday 2 results included victories for the Netherlands, Denmark, Austria and the Republic of Ireland.

Netherlands beat Serbia
In Belgrade, the Netherlands defeated Serbia 2-1, with Mexx Meerdink scoring twice.

Meerdink opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Luka Jovic brought Serbia level.
The Netherlands forward then completed his brace with a low finish to give the visitors all three points.

Denmark defeat Wales
Denmark also recorded their first points of the campaign after beating Wales 2-0 at Parken.

Wales defender Ben Davies inadvertently turned Mikkel Damsgaard’s cross into his own net shortly after half-time.

Gustav Isaksen then doubled Denmark’s advantage with an effort that went in via the crossbar.

Austria maintain perfect start
Austria remained perfect at the top of Group B3 after defeating Kosovo 3-1.

Carney Chukwuemeka came off the bench and completed the victory for Austria as they maintained their winning start.

Ireland bounce back
The Republic of Ireland recovered from their opening defeat to Kosovo with an impressive 3-0 victory over Israel.

Troy Parrott, Adam Idah and Jack Moylan all scored in the first half as Ireland secured their first points of the campaign.

In League D, Gibraltar and Andorra played out a goalless draw, while Lithuania and Azerbaijan shared the points in a 1-1 draw.

Armandas Kucys gave Lithuania an early lead from the penalty spot before Mahir Emreli equalised five minutes later.

With Klopp still searching for his first win, Germany will be under pressure to improve their results in the next round of Nations League fixtures, while Portugal will look to continue their perfect start.

Super Eagles forward Moses Usor says he hopes to emulate the consistency, humility and commitment of Nigeria international Moses Simon as he begins his senior international career.

The 24-year-old LASK forward made an impressive debut for Nigeria last Friday, scoring the winning goal in the Super Eagles’ 2-1 comeback victory over Madagascar in their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo.

Usor was introduced in the second half and needed just 14 minutes to make a decisive impact, producing a brilliant individual effort to complete Nigeria’s comeback.

Madagascar had taken the lead through Ehsan Kari before George Ilenikhena levelled the score for Nigeria. Usor then came off the bench to seal victory for the Super Eagles with his debut goal.

The occasion was particularly memorable for Usor because it coincided with a major milestone for Moses Simon, who earned his 100th senior international appearance after coming on against Madagascar.

Simon became only the fifth Nigerian player to reach the 100-cap mark for the national team.
For Usor, sharing the pitch with a player he admires added another special dimension to his first appearance for the Super Eagles.

“I want to be like Moses Simon, his consistency, his humility, his commitment to the team over so many seasons,” Usor told Footy-Africa.

“It’s special to share the name Moses and go through this night with him. Getting to 100 caps for Nigeria is a massive achievement.

“Now it’s about work. One goal doesn’t make a career. I want to stay humble, keep learning from the senior players, and keep fighting for my shirt. I want Nigerians to know I’m here to give everything.”

Usor had previously received an invitation to join the Super Eagles squad for the 2026 Unity Cup but was unable to honour the call-up after suffering an injury.

His next opportunity came ahead of Nigeria’s opening two AFCON qualifiers, and the forward wasted little time showing what he could offer when introduced against Madagascar.

The LASK attacker said he was determined to make the most of his opportunity when he entered the game and ultimately delivered the decisive moment.

His performance has now placed him in contention for further involvement as Nigeria continue their qualification campaign.

The Super Eagles are scheduled to face Guinea-Bissau in their second Group L qualifier on Tuesday, with Usor hoping his impressive debut will be enough to earn him a starting role.

Nigeria will be seeking another victory as they continue their bid to qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

For Usor, however, the focus remains on establishing himself within the national team, learning from the more experienced players and building on a debut that has already given Nigerian supporters a glimpse of his potential.

Captain Chidera Harmony was the standout performer in the final, scoring twice from the penalty spot to put Nigeria firmly in control before the interval.

Harmony opened the scoring in the 15th minute after converting a penalty with composure before doubling Nigeria’s advantage 20 minutes later from another spot-kick.

The Flamingos went into half-time with a 2-0 lead and maintained their dominance after the restart as they continued to dictate the pace of the encounter.

Oluebube Umejiaku added a third goal in the 67th minute, further strengthening Nigeria’s grip on the final.

Nigeria continued to press for more goals despite their comfortable advantage, and Oluwakemi Adegbuyi completed the scoring in the 90th minute to seal a comprehensive 4-0 victory.

The triumph capped an impressive tournament for the Flamingos, who combined a potent attack with a disciplined defensive display throughout the competition.

Nigeria began their title campaign with a convincing 5-0 victory over Niger Republic before producing another strong performance against Ghana, defeating their West African rivals 4-2 in a six-goal encounter.

The Flamingos maintained their winning run with a 2-0 victory over Burkina Faso, with Mary Dunstan and Adegbuyi scoring late goals to secure the points.

They then defeated hosts Côte d’Ivoire 2-0, with Adegbuyi and Pattra Oparanmegwa finding the back of the net.

The comprehensive victory over Togo in the final completed Nigeria’s perfect five-match campaign and confirmed their status as champions of the WAFU-B U-17 Girls Cup.

The title is another significant achievement for the Flamingos as they continue their preparations for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

Coach Hakeem Busari will now look to build on the team’s impressive regional campaign as the Nigerian youngsters turn their attention to the global tournament.

With five wins from five matches and an emphatic victory in the final, the Flamingos have sent a strong signal of their readiness for the challenges ahead.
