Wike: FCT to Complete All Tinubu-Era Projects Before 2027
The Federal Capital Territory Administration will complete all capital projects initiated under President Bola Tinubu before the end of his administration, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has assured.
Wike gave the assurance during his monthly media chat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he reviewed the infrastructure projects executed by the FCT Administration under the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The minister said the administration had recorded significant progress in the execution and completion of capital projects across Abuja, insisting that none of the projects initiated under the current administration would be abandoned.
“Before this tenure expires, every project started under Bola Tinubu would have been completed,” Wike said.
According to the minister, 107 capital projects initiated under the Tinubu administration have so far been commissioned in the FCT, while 76 of the projects have been completed.
He disclosed that another 10 projects are scheduled for commissioning before the January elections, while work on the remaining projects would be concluded before the expiration of Tinubu’s tenure.
“The President’s administration under Bola Tinubu commissioned 107 capital projects. We have completed 76.
Before the January election, we will commission 10, and before the end of his tenure, we would have commissioned all the projects,” Wike stated.
The FCT minister also highlighted the administration’s progress on projects inherited from previous governments.
Wike said the FCT Administration inherited 25 projects from the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari and had completed 23 of them, with work continuing on the remaining two.
He further disclosed that eight projects inherited from the administrations of former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua had also received attention.
According to him, six of the eight inherited projects have been completed, while construction work is still ongoing on the remaining two.
“We inherited 25 projects from President Buhari and completed 23, while two are currently ongoing.
“We inherited eight projects from the administrations of President Jonathan and President Yar’Adua. We have completed six, while two are ongoing,” he said.
Wike reiterated that the FCT Administration would remain focused on completing ongoing projects rather than allowing them to become abandoned infrastructure.
He said the pace of development in Abuja under the Tinubu administration should be compared with the performance of previous governments to properly assess the level of infrastructure delivery in the capital.
“In the history of the FCT, no government has done what we have done in Abuja. I challenge anyone to come out,” the minister stated.
The minister’s comments come as the FCT Administration continues to prioritise road construction, transportation infrastructure and other capital projects across the nation’s capital.
Wike maintained that the administration would continue to push for the completion and commissioning of projects already underway before the end of the current federal administration.

Anambra Dismisses Claims of Substandard Roads, Promises Free Repairs
The Anambra State Government has dismissed allegations that roads constructed under Governor Chukwuma Soludo are substandard, describing criticisms circulating on social media as politically motivated.
The state Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Okey Ezeobi, said the administration’s road construction projects remained largely intact, with more than 95 per cent of completed roads reportedly in good condition.
Ezeobi stated this on Wednesday during a press briefing in Awka, where he addressed public concerns over the quality and condition of roads constructed across the state under the Soludo administration. He added that some Federal Government road projects had equally experienced similar challenges due to the impact of the rainfall.
The commissioner said the state government would remove damaged asphalt from affected sections and introduce cement-based stabilisation to address underground water problems and prevent further deterioration.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to improving road infrastructure, while also noting that the South-East had benefited from Federal Government interventions in road construction and infrastructure investment.

Months After Failed Coup, Wadagni Shakes Up Benin Military Leadership
Benin’s President, Romuald Wadagni, has reshuffled the country’s military leadership, nearly a year after a failed coup attempt and amid growing security threats in the West African nation.
Wadagni announced the changes on Wednesday, appointing new heads for the army, air force and navy as his administration intensifies efforts to address security challenges facing the country.
The reshuffle comes months after Beninese soldiers loyal to the government foiled an attempt by some military officers to overthrow former President Patrice Talon in December 2025.
France and Nigeria reportedly supported efforts to prevent the coup.
Following the failed plot, Talon had declared that the situation in the country was “completely under control”, crediting loyalist soldiers with helping to protect his administration.
Wadagni, who served as economy minister under Talon for 10 years, succeeded him as president in April 2026.
Under the latest changes, General Abou Issa has been appointed to replace General Fructeux Gbaguidi as Chief of Army Staff.
Gbaguidi will now serve as the permanent secretary of the National Defence and Security Council.
Wadagni also appointed Colonel Andre Dokoui Fofo as head of the land-based military, while Colonel Herve Setondji Allotchenou will lead the air force.
Captain Dossa Hounkpatin was named the new head of the navy.
The military shake-up comes as Benin faces an increasingly difficult security situation, particularly in its northern regions, where jihadist groups affiliated with Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State have intensified activities across the borders with Burkina Faso and Niger.
The worsening security situation is among the major challenges confronting Wadagni, who assumed office in April after spending a decade overseeing the country’s economy.
His administration is also facing diplomatic challenges arising from strained relations with neighbouring Sahel countries, which are currently governed by military juntas.
The juntas have expressed distrust towards Benin over its close relations with France, a development that has complicated regional security cooperation.
The latest military appointments are expected to form part of the government’s efforts to strengthen the country’s defence structure and respond to emerging security threats.
